SHOW NOTES: Experimenting with Plant Based Yarn

Episode 41 can be found here.

I wore my Calville Shawl today- it has been a constant companion the last few weeks! A perfect for the in between season. It can be found for download on Ravelry, Etsy, and Love Crafts.

Works in Progress:

I’m still on sock one of the socks for my father in law using leftover yarn I had in my stash- but I’ve made good progress! I was planning on doing an afterthought heel, but went ahead and did my old favorite, a heel flap and gusset. I have made adjustments over the year, but this free pattern by Susan B. Anderson was the way I learned. I highly reccomend it if you have never knit socks before and would like to learn!

I cast on the sample of a new cozy beret design! I knit a prototype, swatch version (which I shared last episode) but am excited about this version using Drops Flora!

I also cast on a very inspiring new project using plant based yarn! I have never knit a garment with plant based yarn, but Martina Elizabetta of We Grow Wild and the Wild Knitting Podcast sparked a passion with her new #welcomespring-knitalong . I am using Drops Bomull in the darkest brown colorway, and designing my own lightly textured summer top as I go!

Acquisitions

I received some gorgeous cream 100% cotton yarn from The Yarn Lovers . I can’t wait to knit it up. Thank you for the gift!

I also made an order at Drops and ordered the Flora yarn for my hat, the Bomull for my summer top, and some sock yarn and mohair silk for a wrap top that I was hoping to knit. Unfortunately the colorways were not as I imagined them… So is the nature of online shopping!

I hope you enjoyed this little knitting update. As usual, I’d love to hear what you are knitting! Feel free to tag me on instagram, and message me. It is always lovely to chat!
