In this episode I wore the Spearheads Sweater by Jared Flood. I knit it for my husband Nik in 2020 and it was my first attempt at fulling a piece of knitting. It was half planned, half rescue, but it turned out wonderfully and he has worn in through the colder months ever since. The fulling made the fabric wonderfully dense and even a bit windproof. Nik used to say wearing this sweater was like wearing knit’s armour (it is quite stiff- though has softened up a bit since the beginning). Now that I’m pregnant and my belly is growing, I have been wearing it all the time. It’s perfect to throw over a turtleneck or a long button up white shirt as an outer layer on cool and windy days. It was knit using Alafoss Lopi with grey as the main color and black as the colorwork contrast.

Works in Progress:
I’m finally finished the first sock of the pair I am knitting for my father in law using leftover yarn I had in my stash. So this week I was excited to show off this “half object”! Now just to knit the second one…
My love of the moment is the socks I am knitting out of Paper Crane Yarns sock yarn in the Soleil colorway. This is a design all my own that has taken quite a bit of trial and error, but which is finally coming together! I have been affectionately calling these the “Moon River Socks”. Inspired by a golden harvest moon, and the song, knitting this lacy design carries me away…
I have also made progress on my project for the #welcoomespringknitalong hosted by Martina Elizabetta of We Grow Wild and the Wild Knitting Podcast. My first attempt at designing a garment for myself from scratch, I have come up with a romantic (also very summery) textured yoke top using Drops Bomull in the darkest brown colorway. The texture is inspired by butterflies fluttering through late summer brambles.
Updates
We just got home from a wonderful holiday on the island of Sylt. We had sunshine the entire time and spent our days prancing around the dunce and searching the tidal flats for treasure. Now that we are back I am hoping to get into a better schedule with this blog and the podcast. I have so many things I would love to share with you and be in conversation about!
I hope you enjoyed this little knitting update. As usual, I’d love to hear what you are knitting! Feel free to tag me on instagram, and message me. It is always lovely to chat!
