Knitting Finished Object
Baby Socks! I cast these on with some scrap cream coloured sock yarn, using the perfect newborn sock pattern by Tabitha Gandee (which is free, and oh so well written). I knit a bit loosely, especially when knitting with wooden or bamboo needles, and I thoughtlessly knit these socks up on little bamboo double pointed needles. That resulted in socks a touch too big for a newborn, but perfect for a 6 month old. A dear friend of mine has a 6 month old, so these will go to her. I’m planning on casting on another mini pair for my baby soon!
Knitting Work in Progress
An old, beloved project has been calling my name lately- my Anne of Cleves by Jade Starmore , from Alice Starmore’s book Tudor Roses. I have dreams of knitting up every single one of these pieces, and have just loved the rhythmic focus of this project. I am using Jamieson and Smith Chunky yarn in the shade Fuchsia, which is a discontinued yarn but is still in stock on their website! So if you like this wild, gorgeous shade be sure to snap it up while you can! The shade Lupin is also still available in this base (of which I have a few balls in my stash as well 😉 ).
Sewing Plans
I am waiting on new machine needles to arrive in the mail before I get started on my exciting next project. Another summer dress in a linen, viscose blend and a dainty floral print. I am thinking about sewing the Isabel Puff Sleeve Milkmaid dress by Tint of Mint Patterns, but haven’t totally made up my mind yet.
I also shared plans to repurpose a beloved old duvet cover. It tore hugely and is quite worn through, so I am thinking of using it as a cover for our headboard. I think it would be such a lovely shift in texture and shade!
I hope you enjoyed my little update. As mentioned in the podcast, I will be taking a hiatus from podcasting for the remainder of my pregnancy, and will return when the time is right. I’m hoping to stay in touch in other ways along the way, so stay tuned! Sending love and warm making wishes to you, wherever you are.
