Knitting Finished Objects
I knit a very sweet birthday crown for our daughter Vivien’s first birthday! I knit it with Jamieson and Smith Chunky yarn in the “Lupin” colorway. I felted it up a bit too much in the end, but it still turned out adorably for her birthday. I used the Felted Crown pattern by Paula Ladd which is free on Ravelry.
Knitting Works in Progress
I had a wonderful time visiting family in the States, and brought one single project to work on with me. Yarn, needles, and a foggy vision of a shawl that I’d love to see in the world and wear over my shoulders. It is coming along steadily and such a joy!
I also made a huge leap and decided to retire my Anne of Cleves in favour of a new cast on with that yarn- the Rug by Junko Okamoto. This unique and cozy pattern is available for free on Ravelry as well and has been a delight so far! It is so much fun to see the motifs worked up quickly in the chunky yarn. I am using Jamieson and Smith Chunky in the colorways Fuchsia and Lupin.
Acquisitions
I have acquired quite a treasure trove of new yarn in the last few months!
In the States I knew there were two yarn dyers I wanted to buy from. The first being Crafted by the Fates. I was able to snag a magical mini skein set which was dreamily named “Found Fae”. I can’t wait to integrate some fairy dust into special projects with these minis!
I also knew without I doubt that I wanted to order from Paper Crane Yarns. I knit my Moon River Socks (the pattern I designed over the last few months and which is now, finally, in test knitting!) up in Ashley’s sock base in the colorway Soleil and loved every second of the knitting process (and, miraculously, I love wearing them even more! They are soooo soft and robust and the color just ~gleams~). I finally settled on the colorway Dancing Queen and was so overwhelmed with awe when not only that skein arrived but Ashley gifted me extra skeins of her stunning Aurra colorway! I have been fantasising about what these skeins should become ever since (a cropped cardigan, perhaps?!).
I found the final skeins at the Kassel Woll Festival. A really wonderful festival which I heard about just one day before it took place. It was such a wonderful surprise, and I even took 4 skeins home with me.
One very fun skein of sock yarn in a very fun candy colorway, and three skeins from Rübezahl-Spinnereien all naturally dyed in stunning colorways. I picked up two skeins of vivid green Shetland yarn, and one skein of wool/silk sock yarn in a lovely variegated pink and purple colorway.
