Show Notes: Three Finished Objects!

Episode 54 of the Merryweather Knitting Podcast can be found here.

With the official beginning of autumn, I’ve been struck with new waves of knitting inspiration. Each project has been an absolute delight!

Finished Objects:

My “Rug” sweater. This design by Junko Okamoto has been cast off! It was such a delightful and quick (for a garment 😉 ) knit. I used Jamieson and Smith Shetland Chunky yarn in the shades Fuchsia (MC) and Lupin (CC). I think this pattern would make a wonderful project for anyone new at colorwork knitting. I also did modify the charts, creating my own charted floral motifs.

I did some “sweater surgery” for the first time and undid my cast on edge knitting to knit a new collar. To do this I used this fantastic video tutorial from 10rowsaday. It was such a breeze to do and the result is just what I imagined.

Children Tube Socks. I knit up a pair of adorable of little tube socks for my daughter out of lovely hand dyed Crafted by the Fates Yarn. I knit 3×2 rib for the heel so these little water fairy socks will grow with her.

Mittens. I knit the second mitten from this pair that I started eons ago. It will be a gift for my mama who lives so far away and who I miss daily! Knitting for her is such a joy. These were knit out of forest green Cascade 220 held double with Filcolana Tilia mohair silk lace (in an almost identical shade to the Cascade). I actually can’t find the original pattern that I have for these mittens, but here is a fantastic free option from tincanknits.

Works in Progress:

Bifurca Vest. This beautiful pattern by Teti Lusak is the cast on I’ve been most excited about in a very long time! I am enjoying every stitch of this uniquely constructed vest. I’m knitting it up in very special November Woods Fiber Co. yarn. All naturally dyed by my friend Alexandra.

Mini Chunky Yoked Sweater. With the intention of knitting up all of the yarn I have, I’ve cast on another project using the Jamieson and Smith Chunky yarn. I’m loving the process and the adorable product so far!
