Finished Objects:
This week I finished a little bonnet for Esmeralda’s most treasured doll, Lucy. I want to make some fresh wooly, chunky, victorian picture book bonnets for my girls this season but I wasn’t sure if I was on the right track in my conceptualisation. I went ahead and knit a doll bonnet for Lucy to test things out and I am so pleased with the result! More chunky bonnets to come!
Works in Progress:
Bifurca Vest by Teti Lutsak knit out of beautiful naturally dyed yarn from November Woods Fiber co. I am so in love with this project but seem to have underestimated the amount of yarn I need… I have some ideas on what to do to remedy the situation. Let’s hope they work out!
Green socks: When I first heard about the Aktion Grüne Socke I knew that I wanted to participate. What a joy to knit a pair of cozy socks to share with a woman in the midst of chemotherapy. If you’re interested in knitting a pair yourself please do click here to find the address to which you can send a pair of green socks to be gifted to a woman with ovarian cancer!
Non Knitting:
I shared my natural textile dying projects! I have a few pieces of silk (mordanted with alum) and lots of cellulose (linen and cotton, mordanted with oak gall ~ tannin~ and alum) that I prepared to use in natural dying projects. I shared my elderberry dye results, eco printing with oak and blackberry leaves, weld dye, and pomegranate skins modified with iron. Nicola Brown on YouTube has been incredibly informative to me in my natural dye and eco printing journey, and BillyNou is another channel I adore when it comes to natural dying!
